A CAUSE FOR PAWS has raised a total of $5,320 since Gary & I created the raffle fundraiser in 2005. We created the fundraiser through the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (R.A.W.L.) as an effort to help control the cat population of Rappahannock County. This is our tribute to our beautiful ginger tabby, Toby, who was killed by a car in 2006. (He was one of Miss Kitty's five "babies" and he was the hands-down guests' favorite). All prizes and overhead expenses were donated, so 100% of raffle ticket sales went directly into the R.A.W.L. Feline Spay & Neuter Fund.
Raffle winners are awarded a romantic package for two including dinner at THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON and a 1-night stay here at the Heritage House B&B. Winner Jeannie McNear purchased her ticket at our local vet, Rose Hill Veterinary Practice.

Isn't he adorable? Our "repeat" guests, Harold & Lisa Lellig, recently came upon this little fellow as they were hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Mama Bear was watching closely from a nearby branch.
Relax in a deck chair, play games and enjoy the wine, beer and sodas in the stocked fridge! Michelle plays a mean game of Texas Hold 'Em and rowdy games have lasted into the wee hours of the morning!
Heritage House B&B offers a delicious gourmet breakfast each morning in the Dining Room. Lively discussions about dinner the night before at The Inn at Little Washington is the most popular topic!
Enjoy the slow pace of village life from front porch rocker.
The town of Washington (pop. 185) was surveyed and platted by 17-year-old George Washington, an Apprentice Surveyor commissioned by Lord Fairfax and, of course, future U.S. President.
The town is on the State of Virginia Historic Register. Gary is the Chairman of the Town Planning Commission and Michelle is the Secretary of the Architectural Review Board.
In Spring of 2003, a stray we simply called "Kitty" came to live on the property and, 2 days later, she gave birth in our cellar. Of course, this event prompted an immediate name change to "Miss" Kitty. Michelle did not have the heart to give away Miss Kitty's babies - Ellie, Molly, Lily, Toby and Thomas O'Malley - and so began our entry into the membership of "Cat Lovers." Our little family of cats are not allowed inside the Heritage House B&B - regardless of what they tell you!
We also have a friendly little indoor dog named "Sparky" who has access to the common rooms (no guest rooms). Sparky can easily be removed to another location upon request. We promise we won't take it personally - he might, but we won't!
Views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from a Club House deck chair are beautiful - especially in the Fall! Relax with a glass of wine or a good book.
Innkeepers Gary & Michelle renewed their wedding vows with Elvis in 2005 at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Such funny memories (Michelle laughed the whole time). And, much to Gary's dismay, a video record exists!!!
